The Third Sunday in Advent

The Third Sunday in Advent

In Isaiah 65:17-25, the Prophet foretold of Israel’s return from exile. Although many rejoiced at what God had done, some were disappointed. In this week’s message, Fr. Daniel Logan connects Isaiah’s vision of the New Heavens and the New Earth with the New Jerusalem in Revelation 21. When we are disappointed in this life, we are to always look for God’s final fulfillment of Isaiah’s prophecy.

The First Sunday in Advent

This Advent we begin at the end. Jesus told his disciples in Mark 13:24-37 to stay awake, for no one knows when the Son of Man will return to judge the living and the dead. As Christians, we are living between Christ’s first and second advents. This week’s message, Fr. Michael Novotny encourages us to be prepared and wait for his coming.

Do you struggle with doubt? As he sat it prison John the Baptist sent word to Jesus: “Are you the one who is to come, or shall we look for another?” This week’s message from Fr. Michael Novotny encourages us to share God’s work in our lives with others. As we do so, we assure our neighbors that Jesus is the One to come, that their doubting might turn to rejoicing.

The Second Sunday in Advent

The Second Sunday in Advent

Are you ready for Christmas? This week’s message comes from Fr. Gerry McDermott on preparing for the celebration of Christ’s first coming. In this week’s gospel passage, John the Baptist cries out, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matt. 3:1-12). Listen to this important reminder to confess our sins and prepare Him room in our hearts.
